The Grillin' Villain - About Us

About Us – Benito Suppa has such a passion and enthusiasm for food that people close to him keep showing up at his door to eat his savory creations. He started his culinary journey flipping burgers at McDonald’s. Interestingly enough flipping burgers are right where he wants to be! His culinary experience is filled with a myriad of different experiences at different locations.

Past: Benito spent three years working at McDonald’s and then went to work for Casey’s (Prime Restaurants) where he learned to master the grill and flat top and learning his way around a true restaurant kitchen and how it operates. Benito performed so well that he was part of a select few asked to be assisting Casey’s Kitchen Team to open the new Casey’s at Weston Rd and Hwy 7 in Vaughan. Benito helped to lead new kitchen recruits in learning the ropes just as he was shown the ropes a few short years earlier.

After completing two years at Casey’s, Benito was recruited to be a Kitchen Manager at The Third Place Restaurant Downtown Toronto. The Third Place was in the heart of Cabbage-town and served an International menu with each dish requiring an understanding of cuisines from all over the world. A year later when The Third Place was sold, Benito decided to understand more of the business side of running a Restaurant and began to manage The Pita Pit on Gerrard St. At The Pita Pit he was taught to order supplies and food product, learned to keep costs down, learned about Food Borne Illnesses, scheduling, staffing, marketing, hitting sales targets and dealing with heavy downtown traffic of customers.

Comfortable in learning what he needed to learn at The Pita Pit, Benito was still intrigued at learning all he could about the business world, with the goal of returning to the food industry.  Benito worked at two recruiting jobs (Karisma and Express Employment Professionals) and two Sales positions in the Marketing field (Yellow Pages Group and ReachLocal).  Throughout all his business experience, Benito continued to cook for friends and family at parties, testing and experimenting with different recipes, and even doing some catering for friends in large scale with themed BBQ and gourmet menus.

During his spare time, Benito spends it with his wife Amanda and dog Lady, he enjoys time in cottage country with friends, and thinks time with family is of the utmost importance.

Present: Based out of Whitby Ontario, he is rocking his Food Truck, and providing Catering Services across Durham Region. Benito is a current and active member of The Whitby Chamber Of Commerce, and over the last year has gotten to interact and participate with local business owners and the public at various events. He Won the Young Entrepreneur of The Year Award in 2014. With a solid foundation of business knowledge in Recruiting, Sales, Marketing both Traditional and Digital, and a love and passion for food,  Benito has returned to his roots in the culinary world where he is “Grillin’ Like A Villain.”

Future: Working along town councils and staffs in Whitby, Oshawa, Ajax, Pickering and Clarington, Benito’s goal is to help shape the way Food Trucks can operate in Durham Region so that it can have a vibrant Food Truck Scene. Clarington which includes Bowmanville and Courtice to name two have already loosed the strings around the Food Truck Bylaws, and hopefully the rest will follow so that Hiring Food Truck for a special event or as a caterer is normal everyday practice. Until then, you can catch Benito selling his grub at special events and making people smile.
